Every person has a need for recognition and today more people are on the quest to get that recognition at what ever the cost. I guess that that is why Facebook and other social network sites have become so popular.  Lately, people have been posting crimes on Facebook such as rap, torture, and pranks just to gain popularity; going viral.
Matthew 6:1-4
6 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. 2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 4 that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
The idea of the reward of recognition from others is a system of reward that is vain and deceitful; it is hypocritical.
Colossians 2:18
Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
Our rewards are in and from heaven
Matthew 16:27
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
1 Corinthians 3:14
If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
1 Corinthians 3:8
Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
Colossians 6:23 and whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24 knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
For your rewards and my rewards we do not need to sound trumpets lest we receive our rewards here in earth. When you receive rewards here in earth it is what it is, there is nothing else, but when you chose to wait for your reward then it becomes a more glorious one.
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
That thirst and hunger of recognition is a subtle feeling that can be destructive. It leads people to do things they never thought to do.
