The Light.

The purpose of daylight-saving time is to make better use of the light during summertime. We get longer day time light during this time, which means that we can enjoy more sunlight. Sunlight is of utmost importance to the human body; it provides vitamin D which supports healthy bones. It lowers blood pressure by providing nitrogen oxides which cause the arteries to dilate. Light from the sun prevents diseases such as MS and T1 diabetes. Also, light helps with mental health such as depression and sleeping disorders. In the bible Jesus said that if a man walks in the light he will not stumble (Jh11:9-10). Allowing light to come in us is crucial to both our physical and spiritual wellbeing. The light’s rays hit our eyes allowing us to be see clear and be guided, and Jesus told his disciples just that. That as long as they have the light with them, they should walk with him, suggesting that he was the light (Jh12:35). So, if we hang around the light and where is light we will have light within us. The bible tells us that we are the light of the world (Mt5:14), and that we cannot hide but are set for everyone to see and be guided. Solomon said that the spirit of man is the light of the Lord (Prv20:27).

Matthew 6:22-23

22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

Ropedancers, that they may steady themselves, fix the eye on some object on the wall, and look steadily at that. If they should look down on the rope or the people, they might become dizzy and fall. The eye provides the body guidance and direction, and if it is good then it will not cause it to stumble. The body depends on the totally on the eye. Listen to what happened to Peter when Jesus comes to him and disciples. That when the storm was raging and they were sailing to get to the other side, Jesus walks to them on water. Peter to test to see if it was Jesus asks to walk on water to him, and he grants him. But, after a couple of steps Peter takes his eyes away from Jesus and began to sink (Mt14:29-31). It only took a second after Peter took his eyes away from the light for darkness to settle in.

Our bodies cannot be half-light and half dark. There is a scripture that says that a little leaven leavens the whole lump (Ga5:9), and so is with the body. If we allow a little darkness with in us, it affects our entire body’s.
