Having a bad day or a season is not optional, we at any given time will come to a point of hardship without any sign of relief. And, sometimes or most of the time those difficult moments seem to not want to leave, they only get worse and worse. Which makes us wonder where is God, since I am going to such difficult time and am trying to be a good person; I don’t cheat, steal, lie or do anything dishonest. But, the bible teaches us that the rain comes for both the good and the bad(Mt5:45). One of the things is for sure is that God is in the business of rescuing us no matter how far we drift away (ps68:20-22). When we trust God and his saving plan, there is no place too deep that he cannot save us from (ps56:13). Some believe that if we call on God he will save us and indeed he will (Is58:9), but we do not need to call on him to save us; he saves us no matter what.
Jeremiah 38:6
6 So they took Jeremiah and put him into the cistern of Malkijah, the king’s son, which was in the courtyard of the guard. They lowered Jeremiah by ropes into the cistern; it had no water in it, only mud, and Jeremiah sank down into the mud.
Jeremiah was a follower of God, a prophet, a man who sought God with his whole heart, and yet he was not susceptible to having very hard times. A very difficult time came to Jeremiah beyond his imagination, he was cast into a pit filled with mud; something unimaginable. Lamentations tells us that Jeremiah cried unto to the Lord and he drew near him (Lam3:55-57), and said unto him “fear not”. The bible tells us 74 times not to fear. Telling others not to fear is what the bible instructs us to do (Is35:4); be that Ebdmelech to others. God had a plan already in place to save Jeremiah for a moment like this and it was titled Ebedmelech. Ebedmelech was a servant of the king and as soon as he found out about Jeremiah, he took upon himself to save him; kind of a type Christ (tit3:5). Ebedmelech took some old rags and worn out clothes; which are a symbol of tender care in the rescue, and the rope is a symbol of human kindness (Hos11:4). So, no matter how deep or how far one might be in trials or tribulation God is able to reach him.
