When you follow God’s instructions and his counsel you will not have loses that affect your life; He restores your wants. Yeah it seems like sometimes one is taking heavy loses, but it is not so, God holds on reserve our earthly possessions. The bible tells us that if we were to leave mother, father, children and all that we possess God will recompense us a hundred fold (Mt.19:29). Therefore, we should not worry when we embark to serving God. God supplies all our needs especially when doing his service. One of the fears that most people have when deciding if they should serve the Lord or become part of his family is “What will happen to my friends or family that at the moment refuse to serve God and what will they say?”, but God tells us that we should trust in him. The fact is that when one trusts God he will not come out in shame (Ro 10:11, Is. 54:4).

2 Kings 8:3-5

And it came to pass at the seven years’ end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land. And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done. And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life. And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.

This woman’s son past away and she came to Elisha the prophet and resurrected him. She was about to be impacted by this famine that was come due to the sin Israel had committed. When sin becomes a part of our daily life God has no other choice but to send pestilence, or famine to straighten us out; the bible tells us that God chastise’ those he takes for children (He.12:6). This woman like each of us needed to learn to trust the Lord. She was called to leave this famine stricken land and move to a place she knew nothing of. She needed to learn to trust God with her family and with her possessions, two of the hardest things to trust God with. Proverbs 3 tells us that we need to trust God with all our hearts (prv. 3:5). She had already had an experience God with her family, but now it was time to learn to trust God with her possessions. Ruth learned to trust God through her ordeal with Haman and her people (Rth2:12). The psalmist though he had many enemies prowling on them, and though he was afraid he trusted in God (ps.7:1, 18:30).
