What makes a person believe in God? Faith is considered a thought process that affects the frontal lobe in the brain. The Bible tells us that faith comes through hearing the word of God (Rom 10:17). For faith to come, someone has to go and preach the word of God; it is the means by which people can hope in God. That is the purpose of the Great Commission that Jesus gave to all his disciples, past and present, to go and preach good news (Mt 28:19-20). To keep faith growing, because it is a slippery thought process, God established a system called the five-fold ministry (Eph 6:10-11). God set Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers to edify your faith and keep you believing. <\/p>\n

Romans 10:9-10<\/p>\n

8 <\/sup>But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;<\/span>9 <\/sup>That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.<\/span>10 <\/sup>For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Faith is stored in our hearts and minds and is manifested by the word of faith. The central purpose of the word of faith is to lead one to salvation. The two components of salvation, as expressed in the words of faith, are verbal confession and believing with all your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead. Jesus said that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Lk 6:45). Once the word of faith is received, other precepts that reflect faith follow from it, such as walking by faith (2 Cor 5:7). Walking by faith involves making decisions based on faith in God’s character and plan. Also, faith to be healed; Bartimaeus receives his sight because of his faith (Mark 10:52). Having the faith to move mountains (Matthew 17:20) stems from the word of faith that we confess.<\/span><\/p>\n
