The new<\/h3>\n

A fresh new start is always a good thing. When things are not working out as planned, it means it’s time to try something new. Trying something new always works better when we leave the old behind. Jesus said that we cannot mix something new with something old because one will break the other (Mk 2:21-22). When we come to Christ, he makes us new and teaches us to walk in newness (Rom 6:4). The new is always better than the old. Because we know how the old works, we, at times, prefer to either stay in the old or go back to it. God desires that we look not back to the old, but choose the new (Is 43:18-19). <\/p>\n

Joshua 5:11-12<\/p>\n

11 <\/sup>And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day.<\/span><\/p>\n

12 <\/sup>And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.<\/span><\/p>\n

The people of Israel had walked in the desert for 40 years, and all of the old men of war had died there. God did not allow them to see the new promised land. While they walked in the desert, God gave them manna each morning. They were not allowed to save yesterday’s manna for the next day except on the sixth day, because it would spoil (Ex 16:21). God wanted the people to have fresh manna each morning. But when some tried to save yesterday’s portion, it spoiled with worms. God’s mercies are new every morning (La 3:22-23). Once the new generation was prepared to receive the promised land, as they stayed in the plains of Jericho, they found old corn and ate it. Then the manna ceased from coming down. After we have been fashioned anew, the old seems to attract us. Jesus said that no one that had put his hands on the plough and turns is fit for the kingdom of God (Lk 9:62).  <\/p>\n
