Vengeance belongs to the Lord<\/h3>\n

The mission of our Lord Jesus Christ is detailed throughout the scriptures. From Genesis through Revelation, the writers outline the purpose of God with man. Man’s fall in the book of Genesis was not going to go without any retribution from God. Satan was and has been and still is being taught a lesson of God’s wrath for doing what he did in the garden. He is not going to get away with what he did. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, is what the bible tells us, and not to us (Ro 12:9). Let us define what vengeance is; it is <\/span>punishment<\/a> inflicted in retaliation for an injury or offense<\/strong>. It is th<\/span>e infliction of injury, harm, humiliation, or the like, on a person by another who has been harmed by that person. Vengeance is an action against someone to punish that person for having hurt you. It is also known as retribution. God is the only one who carefully implements vengeance. The scriptures tell us God reserves vengeance for his enemies (Na 1:2). <\/span><\/p>\n

Isaiah 61:1-3<\/p>\n

The Spirit of the Lord God<\/span> is upon me, because the Lord<\/span> hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;<\/span><\/p>\n

2 <\/sup>To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord<\/span>, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;<\/span><\/p>\n

3 <\/sup>To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord<\/span>, that he might be glorified.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are many forms by which God avenges his enemies. He sent fire from heaven on Sodom and Gomorrah (Ge 19:23-24), makes the enemy’s foot slip (Deut 32:35), and allows pestilence and the sword to destroy. God avenges the work of those who practice iniquities and sets them free (Ps 99:8). God humiliates our enemies when He comforts us; he binds up the brokenhearted, sets the captives free, and opens our prison doors. God’s display of power in our lives is his display of vengeance on his enemies and ours. What the enemy sets out to destroy us, God turns it into a good for us (Ro 8:28). He sets what the enemy proposes for mourning for beauty. The oil of joy; Sason, for mourning, is poured in our lives (Heb. 1:9) . A garment of praise in exchange for a spirit of heaviness is given on the day of God’s retribution. The planting of the Lord is a symbol of God’s day of vengeance and of his working. <\/p>\n
