We destine ourselves to go places, whether to the store, to the gas station, or on a vacation trip on the other side of the planet, but we will never know what to expect when we get there. There is a reason why the Bible tells us to commit our ways unto the Lord and that is because he will make them straight (Ps.37:5). When God is the compass our path will be established (Prv.16:9), and he will make sure that we make it to where ever we destine to go. Putting our trust in the Lord is a gradual growing process, as we learn to include him on our paths. The proverbs tell us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not to lean onto our understanding, and when we do that it says that he will direct our path (Prv.3:5-6). There are reasons why we include God in our paths in life, they are because we do not know what to expect at the other end.

Luke 8:22-25

22 Now it happened, on a certain day, that He got into a boat with His disciples. There was no second-guessing to see if they would make it. It was a bright beautiful sunny day when they sailed. It was such a nice day for a nap that Jesus went to the lower part of the boat and napped. When the unexpected happened, the windstorm was unleashed. Now the Bible tells us that Satan is the prince of the airs, and because of this many scholars believe that this storm was of supernatural origins. Paul said the spirit working today in the sons of disobedience is the prince of the air (Ep. 2:2). The disciples could not see nor detect this spirit because they were too busy trying to keep the boat from sinking. Their focus was redirected to the things about life and not to the life-giver. The disciples came to Jesus and said “Master we perish,” he got up and rebuked the wind and the waves.

The disciples’ lens of faith was dead, they could not see the origin of the storm nor the one that would stop it. James tells us that faith that does not have works is dead (Ja. 2:17). Jesus questioned the whereabouts of his disciples faith in the middle of the storm. Satan using the storm caused the disciples to lose faith because he did not want them to get to the place where he was causing havoc, the land of the Gaderenes.

<div class="row" style="padding-top: 10px;
