With the advancement of knowledge that this generation has reached, we can find ways to discreetly hide things that are troublesome. There are a variety of places that we can easily get into trouble, with ways of exit ranging from easy to complex for getting out. From white lies to black one’s we do tend to everyday get into sticky situations that jeopardize relationships. This does include each and every one of us, believers and non-believers. The scriptures says that we have all sin and have come short of the glory of God (Ro3:23), which is not licensing anyone to continue on the short end. If we fail, we should pick ourselves up and not remain in that state, because other areas in our lives will fall into jeopardy (Pro28:13). John tells us that we have an advocate with the Father (1Jhn2:1), in case we fail. There are situations in which we cannot get out that requires God’s intervention, in which we might have to wait a bit. God continues to be in the business of saving man and delivering him out of those sticky situations (Ps34:17-18).

Psalms 40:1-4

I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me and heard my cry.

2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

David found himself in a sticky situation, it most likely was emotional, of which found himself waiting on the Lord to deliver him. The phrase waiting for is used in baseball when the batter is stretched waiting for the pitcher to pitch. So, David stretched to the Lord and the Lord stretched unto David and heard his cry. Because God hears when we cry out to him, we know that he will deliver us (Jh9:31). To David this situation was similar to being in a pit that did not allow him to get out, a pit of sticky clay. Now Jeremiah was in a physical sticky pit of mud where his enemies dropped him in for speaking the word of God (Jer38:6). It was a pit for collecting and storing contaminated water from the rain where he was in prisoned. When Jeremiah cried onto the Lord, he caused Ebed-Melek the Cushite to take him out.

God, after his delivery of David and Jeremiah put a new song in their mouths. He makes a rhythm come out of us that praises him with his delivery. The way he chooses to deliver us from those sticky situations in front of others makes them wonder how mighty he is (Ze3:17).

Verses

Romans 3:23

<sup class="versenum">23 </sup>For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Proverbs 28:13

13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

1 John 2:1

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.
