The hour nor day<\/h2>\n

Knowing the bible says is crucial these days with the things that are happening today. There is this feeling amongst us that the end of time is drawing near and that we do not have too much time left here in earth. The bible tells us that no one knows the day or the hour when the Son of man will come, and everyone should know that when that happens the end has come (Mt24:44).  Every person will one day stand before God to give account for what they have done here in earth. Our tradition has always been to try to leave an heir or someone; preferably a man, to carry the family’s name. The Jewish expectation was that one of their male descendants would be the Messiah, the long-awaited savior. So, the people needed to know the law and the scriptures because it contained promises that without a shadow of doubt would be fulfilled. God’s promises do not fade away, they are fulfilled to the very end (2Cor1:20. Mt24:35). When we see his promises fulfilled in us, they are a sign of his mighty power. The power of God is seen in creation and what we are seeing out in the world today. But when we see something good happening in the world today, we need to remember to credit God for it for he is the author of all good.<\/p>\n

Matthew 22:29-32<\/p>\n

29 <\/sup>Jesus replied, \u201cYou are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.<\/span><\/span> 30 <\/sup>At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.<\/span><\/span> 31 <\/sup>But about the resurrection of the dead\u2014have you not read what God said to you,<\/span><\/span> 32 <\/sup>\u2018I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob\u2019b<\/a>]”>[b<\/a>]<\/sup>? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The religious people were constantly trying trap Jesus with God’s laws and their traditions, and so they brought a situation that they said happened within their community. A man married a woman and died, he had seven brothers and according to the law of Moses his brothers needed to marry her and leave a descendant for him. But the problem was that that last one died and so did the woman, and they did not leave a descendant. So, the big question they had was at the resurrection whose wife should she be. Something about going into everlasting life is that we are not going to need marital relationship, because our relationship will be with the everlasting God. We are going to leave our corruptible bodies and put on the incorruptible one (1Cor15:52). <\/p>\n

There was a problem with these religious people that they could not understand, and it was besides not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God, and that was that resurrection to life was for the living and not for the dead. Martha, Mary and Lazarus waited for the day of resurrection like every Jew but when Lazarus died, they thought that that was it and needed to wait till that day to see their brother again. But the faith in Christ takes us to everlasting life, Jesus said that “whoever believes in him though he dies shall live again”(Jh11:25-26). <\/p>\n
