The things we hear from others on a repeated bases soon will enough will impact our lives either positively or negatively. In the 90’s young people were being plagued with the drug LSD to committing suicide after the use. Reports said that young people were hearing voices continually in their head to do bodily hard to themselves, so teen suicide rapidly went on an incline. Today, according to psychology today people with severe depression will hear voices in their heads. Now, voices that play on our heads have some sort of trigger something or someone brings those voices. Solomon said that he that blesses his friend with a loud voice in the morning it will be counted as a curse (pr27:14). Why, because that loud voice will resonate in the brain continually. He then compares a the nagging constant voice to that of dripping rain drops and a contentious women (pr27:15). Military war tactics used to defeat the enemy begins with repetitive content to weaken the mind of the enemy. Someone said that the greatest battle field is the mind, because once the enemy thinks that he is defeated he will act like it. That is why the bible tells us that we; if we do not want to be defeated, should take every thought captive (2Cor10:5) because when we do we can decipher what is from God.

1 Samuel 17:29

29 And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?

With the story of David and Goliath we not only see a young man defeat an over size giant with just a sling and stones, but with thoughts and words. David not only fought the giant, but he needed to take out his own family; brother’s in particular. David understood that this giant was just like any other beast that came and attacked his sheep, so he was not worried about his size (1Sm17:34-36). His brother immediately attacked David by pointing out what they thought to be arrogance and conceit, and this was probably because he was anointed as king right before their eye by Samuel the prophet (1Sm16:11-13). This giant was debilitating the army of Israel, by continually defying them for forty days and night shouting with a loud voice seeking one challenger from the army. That voice “who will come and fight me” was pounding on every soldier in the force to debilitating them. He defied or taunted the army. David’s brother tried to sway the cause that he should not know, but the cause needed to be exposed.

Exposing the cause to the threat is vital to defeating the enemy. David needed to know what was debilitating the people’s heart, before he could decide if he could engage in the battle. So, he need to tear down the voices that came against him; there was a cause to attend to. This battle was up David’s ally, he already was experienced in such war fare. In fact, he understood that no battle was too great for the God he served, and he told this to the giant. David ran into the battle field as he was running after a bear or a lion. He told the giant what every one who is going into the battle field should say to the enemy “Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied”(1Sa17:45).

Verses

Proverbs 27:14

14 He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.

Proverbs 27:15

15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.

2 Corinthians 10:5

<sup class="versenum">5 </sup>Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

1 Samuel 17:34-36

34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

1 Samuel 16:11-13

11 And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children?
