Believers find their ways for serving God at their capacity with the talents that have been handed to them (Mt25:15). But, each one whom God has given a talent must seek to go above and beyond their ability, because it is what appreciation looks like. That God thought of you worthy of his call to serve him, is beyond reasoning. The Apostles were enlighten when they found themselves persecuted for serving the Lord (Acts 5:40–42). The word worthy means sufficient; having the adequate resources. When we have the adequate resources to do what he calls us to, he will not allow anything to stop us from fulfilling it (ph1:6).

Matthew 8:14-15

14 When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. 15 He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.

After Jesus heals the centurion’s servant, he comes into Peter’s house and finds his mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever; this must have been a really bad fever and not a common one. For Peter to have his mother-in-law at his house his family must have been a close nit family. The healing of this women was considered a Jesus instance; a supernatural healing, like the raising of the dead, or healing the blind. She must have been that worthy of this healing if Matthew points her out in scripture. A mother not expecting to be healed was healed because of her serving heart. Healings come for the glory of God, and likewise no healings do also. Once the fever left Peter’s mother-in-law she got up and served the Lord, leading us to believe that this women had a servants heart. The women/mother Solomon describes in Proverbs 31 also has a servant’s heart. She takes care of her husband and family (12-15). Having a servant’s heart is key to being found worthy. There are many marriages where spouses do like to serve each other, which is catastrophically damaging in the relationship.

Verses

Matthew 25:14

15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag,<sup class="footnote" style="font-size: 0.625em; line-height: normal; position: relative; vertical-align: text-top; top: auto; display: inline; color: #000000; font-family: system-ui, -apple-system, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Noto Sans', sans-serif, Arial; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: #ffffff; text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial;" data-fn="#fen-NIV-24024a" data-link="[<a href="#fen-NIV-24024a" title="See footnote a">a]”>[a] each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.

Acts 5:40-42

40 His speech persuaded them.
