Many people have said that they at one point in their have seen a spirit or angel and probably indeed have. Spirits that have manifested to humans are not spirits of humans that have deceased, but they are demons or fallen angels. Human spirits either go to heaven or hell once that human dies. Spirits that appear to humans take the form of the deceased, and at times interact with humans. Harry Carry’s spot in Downtown Chicago is said to host Harry’s spirit along with other spirits like Nitti, AL Capone’s right hand man after he killed himself. Now the bible teaches that Satan along with his demons dress as angel’s of light even as ministers of righteousness (2Cor. 11:14-15). Spirit’s are agents of fear and terror Mark writes to us about the demon possess man who haunted the graveyards (Mk 5:3-5), which hurt himself with cuts and rocks. He terrorized people who came near the graveyards and the mountains there.
Matthew 14:25-27
25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
God is not a God of fear but of peace. He is not to be confused with spirits as Jesus’ disciples did when he walked on the waters towards them. When God’s agents such as angels reveal them selves they reveal their purpose immediately and cast down fear, while spirits will not. When Jesus changed himself to his true heavenly nature before his disciples he made sure that their fears were taken care of (Spirits deal with deception and lies and they pray on man’s fears. Anytime God reveals a supernatural sighting a connection to salvation is involved (Mt. 17:5-6). Almost every book in the bible has “do not fear”. Children are vulnerable to spirits, because they do not know how to defend themselves and are very acceptable. The disciples had an encounter with a boy who became possessed with a spirit (Lk9:38-40), of which they could not cast out. Some of the characteristics which follow spirits is to hurt and torment man like it did to this boy. But, Jesus came to the rescue and cast out the spirit out of the child, because that is what God does he counters the enemies destructive forces.
